Hoarding disorder is . 

defined a pattern of difficulties with letting go of or discarding of possessions. A a huge clue is when a livin area is not useable or functioning in the home. A kitchen they can't cook in due to all the stuff. 

 The normal treatment for hoarding disorder is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). This therapy gives the person with the disorder the skills they need to deal with the strong , real feelings they have to objects due to past traumas. Hoarding is a real illness and has real solutions that has worked for many.

Having positive support without shaming or hamulating  is a huge step moving forward.

 

Hoarders usually have other psychological disorders that affect the person such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) ...

  • Listen
  • No judgement.
  • Relate somehow.
  • Educate your self on Hoarding disorder, Anxiety disorders. 
  • Have sympathy. 
  • Get help mental health.
  • Make sure home is safe.
  • Make small meet able goals.
  • Make sure the person can function in home.
  • Encourage.
  • Reflect.
  • Ask. To develop trust, never throw anything away without asking permission.
  • A hoarding cleanout does not need to be done with out knowledge and needs to be done slow. If not the junk, clutter, the hoard will return.
